Join us on June 27 from 3:00-4:00pm for our Buzzing Biodiversity Pollinator Citizen Science Training. This hands-on workshop invites participants to contribute to pollinator monitoring by selecting a 1 x 1 meter observation plot, using simple data forms. And completing timed observation periods to count and identify visiting pollinators.
We’ll begin with a short introduction and training session, where participants will learn how to complete the surveys, use iNaturalist, and identify different pollinator groups such as bees, butterflies, moths, and floes. From there, guests will head outdoors and apply their new skill in a real monitoring setting.
The information gathered will support Ellis Nature Centre’s ongoing monitoring efforts and will later be shared with the broader scientific community through iNaturalist. This free event is open to all ages, welcomes both pre-registration and drop-in, and can accommodate up to 30 participants.
