Ellis Nature Centre is staffed year-round with the Site Manager/Biologist, Office Administration, Education Coordinator, Site Foreman, Gardener, and Research Biologist.
During the summer season we employ students for Grounds/Landscaping, Biologist Research Technician, Agriculture Research Technician, and Nature Interpreters.

Ellis Nature Centre (our legal name remains Ellis Bird Farm Ltd) is a not-for-profit limited company incorporated under the Companies Act of Alberta in 1982. ENC is governed by an independent volunteer Board of Directors.
The board structure, as required by Charlie and Winnie Ellis, was one member from Union Carbide (now MEGlobal); Lacombe County; Red Deer River Naturalists; and Nature Alberta. There are 10 board members in total.
ENC is funded through the annual operations grant from MEGlobal, Red Deer District and Community Foundation, summer job grants, private donations and other research grant funds. We greatly appreciate the in-kind support we receive from Lacombe County, MEGlobal and Dow Canada.
