Wetland Tools for Wetland Managers

Learn about practical tools and resources available for wetland managers.

Has your wetland been swinging between drought and flooding? Wondering what to do with a dry basin that’s filling with weeds? Or how to manager changing water levels on your farm? You’re not alone, and we’re here to help!

Learn about practical tools and resources available for managing wetlands through Alberta’s increasingly unpredictable weather. Hear from representatives from Cows and Fish, Red Deer River Watershed Association, ALUS, The County of Lacombe, and the Nature Centre to help manage and protect wetlands on your farm while supporting wildlife, improving water quality, and building resilient landscapes.

This workshops includes indoor presentations and an outdoor tour. Topics will include: Riparian health within the Red Deer River Watershed, Drought impacts and wetland resilience, Weed management challenges in wetland basins, and Stewardship programs and funding opportunities available to landowners.

Lunch is provided. Please register by October 13th to reserve your spot.

Please note: This workshop includes walking over uneven terrain. Participants are encouraged to wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. While every effort will be made to ensure a safe experience, participants attend the outdoor portion of the workshop at their discretion.
