Mushroom Walk & Talk

Join us for a mushroom walk & talk on July 26, where you'll learn about mushroom identification and discover the types of wild mushrooms on the Ellis Nature Centre site!

Join us as we welcome back Martin Osis, mushroom identification expert and mycology educator with the Alberta Mycological Society. Returning to Ellis for his second year as a guest presenter, Martin will be leading two engaging “Walk & Talk” sessions on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 10:30am – 1:00pm and 12:00 – 2:30 pm.

His presentation, “Should I Eat It?”, will explore how to tell which mushrooms are safe to eat, which are best left alone, and why accurate identification matters. The session is accompanies a discussion period and a guided 60-minute walk, where participants will learn how to observe key features and better understand the fascinating world of fungi.
