Spring Programs:
**Registration for 2025 programs will open in January 2025!**
Our spring school programs focus on field trip programs for schools and homeschool groups around Central Alberta. Our goal is to provide hands-on, immersive educational experiences about nature and the environment.
Groups can choose between a 2 or 4 hour program which allows them to tailor their experiences to the grade level of their students and what their classroom focus has been. While our programs are designed for grades one and two in the spring, all grade levels are welcome.
From the pond to the chicken coop, our spring programs are packed with educational opportunities for all ages!
Summer Programs:
Our summer education programs focus on inspiring and growing a love of nature in kids of all ages. We have two summer programs – Knee High Nature and Junior Naturalists.
Our Knee High Nature program is for children aged 3-6. Children spend one hour immersed in nature as we focus on a different creature that calls Central Alberta home in each program. We’ll give a small introduction to the animal, do a themed craft, and of course spend time outside looking for this creature!
Our Junior Naturalist program is day camps for children aged 7-12. Participants spend a 6 hour day with us exploring the various areas on our site, learning about various creatures and plants in Central Alberta, and spending time immersed in nature.
We also offer field trips for outside summer camps and clubs upon request throughout July & August!
Fall programs:
**Registration for Fall 2024 is now closed.**
Our fall school program focuses on a hands-on and in-depth examination of wetlands or the aspen parkland in a 2 hour program. These programs are designed specifically to target grade five and six curriculum objectives. Through a more in-depth examination of these areas, students will leave the program with an extensive knowledge of these two wonderful Central Alberta features. Please note that different grade levels can be considered upon request.
We are so excited to unveil our 2025 K-6 school program, running in May & June! Join us for an ultimate nature learning experience focused on Species & Land right here in Central Alberta. Students are sure to leave buzzing with excitement about the natural world around them!
Ellis Nature Centre offers two different school program options for the fall! Grade 5’s and 6’s can engage in Wetland or Tree Exploration.
