Ellis Nature Centre Café
Ellis Nature Centre is seeking a friendly, responsible operator to lease the Ellis Café for the 2025 season.
Active: borrow a pair of binoculars and hike our West Woods Trail 4km loop that takes you past the farm fields into a mature Aspen forest with loads of bird life. Or sign out a dip net from the visitor centre and spend some time exploring the critters in the wetland – from water boatman, fathead minnows, to even a salamander – you can learn all about aquatic life and water quality at the blue wetland center.
Serene: stroll the paved, accessible paths and view our gardens that surround the 1907 original Ellis farmstead. There are gardens dedicated to hummingbirds, butterflies and other pollinators and the Ellis Nature Centre Café garden has some original perennial flowers and trees planted by Winnie Ellis. Take a break at one of the benches or picnic tables.
Interactive Learner: visit the interpretive centre where you can view displays about local birds and wildlife. The new honeybee “Bee Box” has hands-on learning about honey production and pollinator, including our important native pollinator species! Join and take part in the Citizen Science Butterfly Count project. Check out the current observation chalkboard and add a new species you observed on site!
